About the Doctor
Dr. Fernando Silva
Founder & Board-Certified Rheumatologist
Dr. Fernando Silva is the founder of the Rheumatology Institute of San Antonio and a board-certified rheumatologist with over 25 years of experience in internal medicine and rheumatology. A retired U.S. Air Force Colonel, Dr. Silva served honorably for over two decades, holding leadership roles such as Chief of Rheumatology and Chief of Medical Staff at various military medical centers.
He earned his medical degree from the Ponce School of Medicine and completed both his internal medicine residency and rheumatology fellowship at Wilford Hall Medical Center. Dr. Silva is known for his thorough, patient-focused approach and his dedication to clinical excellence. Fluent in English and Spanish, he is passionate about building lasting relationships with his patients and delivering care rooted in compassion and integrity.
